Experience:
Dr. Jennifer Donaghue serves as The George Washington University’s Assistant Provost for International Education. She oversees the GW Office of International Programs, the International Services Office, and the Office for Study Abroad. Her work portfolio spans oversight of the institution’s international partnerships and agreements, international program risk management, international student and scholar services, and undergraduate study abroad.  

Dr. Donaghue’s passion for international education stems from her own undergraduate yearlong study abroad experience in Granada, Spain. She later interned in Madrid, Spain, and worked for one year teaching English in Japan.  

She was a recipient of a 2021 Fulbright France higher education administrator’s award. She has facilitated re-entry workshops for AmidEast Fulbright grantees since 2016, and currently serves on the board for the Forum for Education Abroad. Dr. Donaghue is an active member of NAFSA, and has participated in advocacy on behalf of international education on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. She has moderated and been a panelist of the State Department’s “Education USA Interactive Webinars”, and has led presentations in Uganda, Cambodia, and South Africa at Education USA regional conferences regarding the international student experience and navigating the visa process.

Dr. Donaghue holds a teaching appointment in the GW School of Education. Her most recent publications focus on issues of diversity and inclusion in international education, graduate student pathways to study abroad, and the intersection of internationalization and international enrollment management.
